British scientists make new foods to help lose weight

British scientists spent three years developing a mixture of oil and water that, when added to a drink, can double the length of one’s fullness, reducing food intake, helping to lose weight, and staying healthy.

New food

Scientists at the British Food Research Institute have found through experiments for three years that olive oil and water, two kinds of raw materials for making salads, can increase the time spent in the acidic environment of the stomach after adding stabilizers.

Using olive oil and water as the main raw materials, the scientists added two food stabilizers, Tween 60 and Span 80, to make a mixed emulsion, followed by coffee flavoring.

The researchers had 11 volunteers each choose a "coffee" drink, and then every hour to see through these people's stomach.

One hour later, it was found that the stomach residue of people who drank Twain “coffee” was twice as many as those who drank “Coffee”. Scientists explained that Tween-60 keeps the mixture of olive oil and water in a stable state in the stomach, making people feel full and reducing their desire for food. Span-80 separates the oil and water, resulting in water Soon from the stomach.

To be studied

Currently, scientists are studying whether adding mixed solutions to processed foods can have the same satiety effect. Britain’s “Daily Mail” quoted Martin Wickham of the Food Institute as saying on the 4th that food containing this solution ingredient could be sold in supermarkets five years later.

He said: "It is very important to maintain a proper weight, and this (new type of food) is much easier than dieting."

Luka Marcjani, a researcher at the University of Nottingham who participated in the project, said: "Our research has shown that it is feasible to design a mixed solution of oil and water that allows it to affect gastrointestinal function and eventually change satiety."

Experts believe that if the British do not change their eating habits and do not strengthen physical activity, by 2050, more than half of the population will become obese, and obesity will increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer.

Questioned

The results of this research by British scientists have been questioned by some people.

Mary from Manchester commented on the Daily Mail website that some people feel that they are full or eat, because they enjoy the process of eating or do not want to waste food. This new type of food does not work for such people. “My grandmother and mother always piled food on my plate and insisted that I finish eating because it took them a long time to cook the food and the food was expensive.”

Papua in East Sussex also holds a similar view. He believes that people do not simply lose weight by eating small plates and eating less, and sometimes people do not eat because of hunger, but because of trouble or stress.

A netizen from Washington, DC, whose signature was “Mlhc,” questioned the taste of this mixture and felt it was difficult to swallow. (Huang Min)
