Analysis of advantages of new silicon-aluminum insulation materials

China Aluminum Industry Network reports on a groundbreaking insulation material made from silicon-aluminum. This innovative product is a micro-closed pore network structure created using special silica-alumina gelling materials, reinforcing fibers, recycled polyphenylene particles, and various additives. It effectively addresses the long-standing conflict between low bulk density and high strength in traditional insulating materials, offering a lightweight solution with excellent thermal conductivity, high compressive strength, strong adhesion, and ease of installation.

This new aluminum-silicon insulation material brings several unique advantages to the construction industry. First, it utilizes renewable resources, making it an eco-friendly choice that supports energy conservation and environmental protection. Second, it incorporates near-nano-scale fibers imported from abroad—hundreds of millions of cross-linked fibers per cubic meter. These fibers significantly enhance the material’s insulation performance, crack resistance, compressive strength, adaptability, fatigue resistance, shock resistance, and durability, while also reducing cold and hot bridge effects.

The product is non-combustible, has no voids or seams, and sets quickly, allowing it to bond directly with the base layer and form a unified insulation system. This solid structure greatly improves insulation efficiency. Its thermal conductivity is measured at 0.046–0.048 W/(m·K), meeting and exceeding current building energy efficiency standards in China, which require an overall energy-saving rate of 65%. In most regions, an insulation thickness of 30–100 mm is sufficient for wall insulation needs.

Additionally, the material offers strong adhesion and minimal thermal expansion and contraction coefficients. This means that no interface agent or fiberglass mesh is required during installation, and the insulation layer can be applied continuously in one day if its thickness is under 120 mm. This simplifies the construction process, speeds up project timelines, reduces labor costs, and provides significant economic benefits.

The material is packaged in a 1:1 ratio, with silica-alumina gel and polyphenylene granules separately sealed. This ensures accurate mixing and eliminates issues like dusting during the stirring process. Overall, this new insulation material represents a major advancement in sustainable and efficient building solutions, combining performance, cost-effectiveness, and environmental responsibility.
