According to statistics from the American Cutting Tool Association (USCTI) on member companies, US cutting tools sales in August 2009 increased by 2.5% from July. From July to August 2008, sales of cutting tools decreased by 0.1% from July to August; from July to August 2007, sales of cutting tools increased by 15.6%. The following table shows the change in US cutting tool sales from April to August during 2007-2009 (based on 1997 data, which is the same month sales in the same year = 100%). It can be seen that compared with the previous two years, the sales of cutting tools in the United States in 2009 have dropped significantly.
