1. The selected coatings must meet the specified technical conditions, and unqualified coatings are not allowed to be used for construction.

2. Before opening the can, first check whether the paint type, grade, color and storage period are consistent with the requirements of use, and whether the diluent is matched. Once the can is opened, it should be used immediately.

3. After the paint is opened, it should be fully stirred evenly. The epoxy paint should be added with curing agent, thoroughly stirred, and the mixing time should be paid before construction.

4. If the paint needs to be diluted during construction, the appropriate thinner should be added according to the instructions of the paint manufacturer. The addition amount should not exceed 5% of the coating amount.

Requirements for the coating environment

1. Do not perform outdoor painting in rainy, snowy, heavy fog, or humid weather conditions.

2. Do not paint on wet surfaces.

3. The humidity is above 85%, the outdoor temperature is higher than 30 °C, and lower than -5 °C; the surface temperature of the steel plate is lower than the dew point by 3 °C, and the painting operation cannot be performed.

4. Do not work in an environment with high dust or serious pollution.

Process requirements for painting construction

1. The construction method of hull painting is carried out according to the following requirements:

a. The outer surface of the hull, the deck, the deck outdoor deck, the inside and outside of the bulwark, and the upper part of the engine rudder paddle steel plate are sprayed.

b. Painted on hand welds, fillet welds, back of profiles, and free edges before painting.

c. Other parts are applied by brushing and roller coating.

2. Construction shall be carried out in strict accordance with the “List of Painted Brands, Coatings and Dry Film Thickness of Each Part of the Hull”.

3. Painting must be cleaned on the painted surface to meet the requirements, and can be carried out after inspection by special personnel and approved by the shipowner.

4. The type of painting tool should be compatible with the selected coating. When changing to other coatings, the complete tool should be thoroughly cleaned.

5. When painting a paint, keep the front surface clean and dry. The drying time is usually not less than the minimum coating interval specified by the manufacturer.

6. In order to reduce the workload of secondary surface cleaning, all welds, cuts, free edges (free edges require chamfering) and pyrotechnic burned parts (excluding watertight test welds) shall be after welding and cutting. Clean up immediately and repaint with the appropriate shop primer.

7. For parts with high surface aesthetic requirements, avoid defects such as sag and accumulation of the coating.
