Angular contact ball bearings are designed to handle both radial and axial loads, making them ideal for high-speed applications. The contact angle plays a crucial role in determining the bearing's capacity to withstand axial forces. The larger the contact angle, the greater the axial load the bearing can support. High-precision and high-speed angular contact bearings typically use a 15-degree contact angle. However, under operational forces, this angle may increase slightly. These bearings are commonly used in machine tool spindles due to their precision and performance. One challenge with these bearings is that the outer ring often features a locking mechanism, which creates an annular groove that cannot be sealed effectively. As a result, they are not typically filled with conventional grease like other bearings used in similar machinery. Adding a secondary lubrication system would increase costs and complicate the machine layout. An advanced solution involves using a new type of bearing design where the groove is embedded within the bearing itself. This groove is slightly shallower than traditional ones, allowing it to fit perfectly with the flange of the outer ring. This innovative sealing method prevents grease from leaking out and also blocks contaminants from entering the bearing from both ends. Because the inner and outer races of angular contact ball bearings can move relative to each other along the axis, they are capable of handling both radial and axial loads simultaneously. However, a single-row angular contact bearing is only suitable for unidirectional axial loads, so it is common to use a pair of bearings in such cases.

Pillow Blocks

Pillow block, also known as plumber block, which are bearing housings supplied without any bearings and are usually meant for higher load ratings and a separately installed bearing.

Pillow block or Plummer block housings can be used with high-capacity spherical roller bearings or self-aligning ball bearings. They are manufactured from high-strength cast iron as standard but are also available in cast steel or spheroidal graphite cast iron. The housings have a re-lubrication facility and can be used with either oil or grease lubrication.

PILLOW BLOCK

Pillow block or Plummer block can be 1 or 2- piece split types held together by two or four cap bolts. Most bases provide two or four mounting bolts. Most blocks are of Class 30 gray cast iron. For more strength and ductility, usually they can be furnished in ductile iron or cast steel.

We have specialized in producing US/EURO standard bearing housings more than 10 years, could help to design the bearing housing or produce the Bearing Housing according to your requirements. (OEM accepted)
