Recognize the flame retardant rating of wire and cable

People in the wire and cable industry are familiar with ZR. Most wire and cable specifications have a ZR or ZA, ZB, ZC, and so on. What does this flame retardancy really mean? We simply understand what is the flammability rating of wire and cable and how the flammability rating is differentiated.

ZR is a flame-retardant means, flame-retardant points A, B, C three, ZB on behalf of the B-class flame retardant, ZR default C-class flame retardant.

Flame retardant properties ZA>ZB>ZC. Whether it is home appliances or power cables, there will be a difference in the flammability rating.

Flame retardant cable A\B\C is classified according to the GB/T18380-2008 standard and is used to evaluate the ability of vertically-mounted bunched wire and cable or optical cable to inhibit the vertical spread of flame under specified conditions.

Flame retardant Class A means that: the cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the total volume of the non-metallic material contained in the test is 7 L/m, and the time for the fire is 40 minutes. After the cable is burned, the sample is wiped dry and the test is tested. The maximum charring range must not be higher than the torch bottom 2.5m

Flame-retardant Class B means that the cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the non-metallic material contained in the test is 3.5 L/m in total volume and the time for the fire is 40 minutes. After the cable is burned, the sample is wiped dry and measured. The maximum carbonization range of the sample shall not be higher than 2.5m at the bottom of the torch

Flame retardant C class refers to: the cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the total volume of the test contains non-metallic material 1.5L/m, the fire time is 20 minutes, after the cable burning is stopped, the sample is wiped dry, measured The maximum carbonization range of the sample shall not be higher than 2.5m at the bottom of the torch.
