1. The display cabinet is not used as a siding
Instead of using traditional wooden panels, the designer opted for an innovative approach to save costs. By using slabs and avoiding the need for additional siding, the project became more cost-effective. Additionally, the wall panels were designed to handle weight without compromising aesthetics. If the walls are dry and no heavy items are placed, there’s no need for extra reinforcement. In the main display area, such as the master bedroom, personal collections and cosmetics are showcased, so the designer chose not to install siding, which saved both money and space while maintaining a clean look.
2. Domestic kitchen equipment
To keep the kitchen budget under control, the designer focused on affordable yet functional materials. While the original plan was to use pearl plates for the countertop, the owner preferred artificial stone, which wasn’t within the budget. To address this, the designer generously used artificial countertops, ensuring quality without overspending. The choice of domestic products helped maintain affordability without sacrificing practicality or design.
3. Three-sided aluminum window saves money
The original aluminum window on the balcony was outdated, so the designer removed it and installed a new one. The most cost-effective option was to go with a three-sided aluminum window featuring 5mm tempered glass. This solution not only reduced costs but also provided better durability and aesthetics. Using latticed aluminum windows would have increased the price by up to 100%, making the three-sided version a smarter choice.
4. Plaid glass replaces lattice floor door
The floor-to-ceiling door leading to the rear balcony was originally intended to be lattice-style, but due to budget constraints, the owner had to make a change. Instead of the expensive lattice design, the designer suggested using plaid glass, which achieved a similar visual effect at a significantly lower cost. This decision saved more than half the budget while still delivering a stylish and modern appearance.
5. Partition wall for dressing room
Creating a dressing room instead of a full wardrobe proved to be a more economical option. The designer borrowed nearly 1 ping (about 3.3 square meters) from the children's room and used wooden splints to separate the area. To enhance the look, the designer also added some creative detailing to the wall, making the space both functional and visually appealing.
6. Floor mat high bed frame
With two daughters, the bedroom needed at least one double bed or two single beds. To cut costs, the designer suggested raising the floor and placing two single mattresses directly on it. Although the raised floor required some additional investment, it was far cheaper than buying two separate bed frames. This solution not only saved money but also offered flexibility and a modern feel.
7. Cabinets made of wood with system furniture
Designing cost-effective storage solutions requires smart thinking. Traditional wood cabinets often come with high prices that include not just the materials but also the cost of door paint. To save money, the designer used woodwork nails for the cabinet body and paired them with system cabinet doors. This approach eliminated the need for painting the doors and also took advantage of the lower cost of system cabinets, resulting in significant savings without compromising on quality.
8. Porch screen replaced by shoe cabinet
To add privacy and functionality at the entrance, the owner initially wanted a porch screen. However, considering practicality and budget, the designer proposed replacing it with a shoe cabinet. While the shoe cabinet might cost more upfront, it offers greater utility and eliminates the need for a separate porch screen, making it a more efficient and cost-effective choice.
9. Polished quartz bricks replace marble floors
The owner desired a marble-like finish for the living room floor, but the high cost of real marble was prohibitive. The designer suggested using polished quartz bricks, which offer a smooth texture and elegant look at a fraction of the price. This substitution not only met the aesthetic goals but also stayed within the budget, proving that style and affordability can coexist.
