When it comes to anti-static clothing, there's a clear distinction between ultra-clean fabrics and regular anti-static fabrics. The key difference lies in the concept of "super clean," which means that ultra-clean anti-static fabrics must meet three essential criteria:

First, they must have effective anti-static properties. Static electricity can attract dust, and once dust is trapped, it’s hard to remove by simply blowing air. Therefore, the primary function of ultra-clean anti-static fabric is to prevent static buildup. More importantly, this anti-static performance needs to be long-lasting—resistant to wear, washing, and daily use without losing its effectiveness.

Second, the fabric itself should not generate dust. Since these materials are used in cleanrooms, any dust from the fabric could contaminate the environment. This requirement means that ultra-clean fabrics are typically made from chemically synthesized long fibers, such as polyester or nylon. Natural fibers like cotton, silk, or wool, although comfortable and soft, are not suitable for ultra-clean applications because they tend to shed particles. Additionally, even synthetic fibers need to be carefully selected to minimize dust generation. For example, full-dull polyester filaments are often avoided because the titanium dioxide used to make them matte can become a source of contamination.

Third, the fabric must have good dust filtration capabilities. In a cleanroom, most dust comes from people moving around or from the air. To maintain cleanliness, the fabric should trap tiny particles generated by the body and prevent them from entering the air. This is achieved through a high dust filtration rate. However, increasing filtration efficiency often reduces breathability, which is why loosely woven fabrics, such as knits or loosely woven weaves, are not ideal for cleanroom environments.

In summary, ultra-clean anti-static fabrics are specifically designed to meet strict cleanliness standards while maintaining comfort and durability. They go beyond basic anti-static properties by ensuring minimal dust generation and efficient particle filtration, making them essential in sensitive environments like laboratories, medical facilities, and semiconductor manufacturing.
