From September 17th to 8th this month, there have been many cases of fraudulent use of counterfeit banknotes to buy famous cigarettes, liquors and scams in the hotel merchandise department. According to the description of the victim, the police determined that the fraudster committed the crime for the gang and issued a police report to the hotels in the city.

Real money is inexplicably changed into fake banknotes

At about 3 pm on October 8, in the Commodity Department of the Guizhou Hotel in the North Third Ring Road, a man about 30 years old came in. The man is thin, about 1.7 meters tall and has an accent from the field.

The man bought 4 soft Chinese cigarettes with a unit price of 880 yuan in front of the counter, with a total price of 3,520 yuan. The salesperson Xiao Fang took him to the hotel front desk to check out. The man handed over 36 hundred-dollar bills to the cashier. The experience of the banknote machine checked that each bill was fine.

"Also drinking?" At this time the man called and immediately asked the cashier to suspend collection and billing. The cashier refunded 3,600 yuan to Xiao Fang. When Xiao Fang returned the money to the man, the man said to let Xiao Fang take it first, saying "I still want to buy wine anyway."

The man selected the wine he wanted to buy and said that his friend was in the car outside and the door lock was broken. If his friend could not get out of the car, could he take the wine out and let his friend see if he wanted to buy the wine Xiao Fang told the man that, in accordance with hotel regulations, wine could not be taken off the counter if it had not been sold. The man said he bought the cigarettes first, went out to ask his friends and then came back to buy alcohol. After the man left with cigarettes, Xiao Fang waited for him to come back to change, but after a long time, the man did not return to the store, and the small convenience took the money to the cash register and entered the account. When the cashier collected the money, he found that Xiaofang had only handed over 3100 yuan, and all the 31 hundred-dollar bills were counterfeit banknotes of the same number!

"The money I paid back for the first time has been in my hands. I don't know how to change the counterfeit notes." Xiao Fang was puzzled. The hotel security department called the surveillance video to see that the money was indeed in the hands of Xiao Fang. The video did not reveal how the man was doing.

Many hotels recruit

A group of fraudsters who used fake banknotes to defraud the hotel ’s merchandise department started committing crimes in Beijing as early as September, and many hotels were unfortunately recruited.

At 10 o'clock in the morning on September 17 this year, one fat and two thin men in their 30s came to the Ship Heavy Industry Hotel Commodity Department near Shilihe, Shibalidian, Chaoyang. The two were particularly generous, asking for 10 hard Chinese cigarettes, 2 soft Chinese cigarettes, and 2 soft Furong king cigarettes, with a total value of 10,300 yuan. The two men paid 103 hundred dollar bills and left. The staff did not find any counterfeit banknotes during the collection inspection, but after the inspection, it was found that the 103 hundred-dollar bills were all counterfeit banknotes.

On September 18, the merchandise department of a hotel in Shunyi was deceived by two men using the same method to steal 10 soft Chinese and 3 soft Su cigarettes, with a total value of 9,800 yuan.

The Jianyin Hotel in Fengtai District became the biggest victim. On September 26, they were scammed for a worth of 13,980 yuan. The fraudster told them in cash that "this is 14,000 yuan, no need to find it", and then left. The cashier discovered after the inventory that "14,000 yuan" had become 12,000 yuan, and all were counterfeit notes.

The police issued a notification

Because the scammers have not been arrested, they still have no way of knowing the specific methods of their crimes. According to the victim's description, there were at least three fraudsters using similar techniques, and the police determined that the gang had committed fraud. The Beijing police has issued a police report to the hotels and issued precautionary warnings to the hotels.

The police recommended that all hotels strengthen anti-fraud training for employees of the Commodity Department. For those who purchase bulk commodities, they should carefully check the currency, and suspicious personnel should be carefully screened and reported to the police in a timely manner.
