Lucy Lu: The last moment to save the earth's climate

Vitality is fleeting, and it is likely to slip away from our generation. Most people don’t know, maybe don’t care, human civilization will destroy at any time

From Beijing

On the morning of September 15, 1971, in Vancouver, Canada, three young men boarded a boat called the Feliz Cormac.

They planned to sail to the island of Amčitka on the Arctic Ocean and expressed their strong protest against the US government's explosion of a 1 million-ton hydrogen bomb there.

At this point, the "Green Peace" global NGO officially set foot on the international stage.

"Now Greenpeace is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and has offices in more than 40 countries around the world. There are more than 2,000 staff and more than 3 million volunteers." The telephone to Vancouver, Greenpeace (China) ) Director Lu Siyi made a gentle introduction with Hong Kong-style Mandarin.

NGO survival space will be bigger and bigger

In 2001, Lu Siyi took a single shot from Hong Kong and arrived in Guangzhou and Beijing successively to establish the branch of International Greenpeace in China.

This year, no assistant, no formal decent office, Greenpeace (China) is working on him alone.

Prior to taking root in the mainland, he was an active social activist at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was experienced in various social movements such as environmental protection, labor, community, and school democratization. He studied peace and conflict, studied master's degree programs in anthropology, and He is familiar with the development of modern Chinese history and Marx's philosophy, and deeply understands the importance of the government when doing any social work in China.

However, he still has to face - "So far, China has always implemented a grey zone management method for NGO organizations. That is to implement the 'three non-policy' that does not ban, acknowledge or approve."

When they first arrived in Beijing, some media appealed to guard against certain non-governmental organizations in the West and watch out for their “velvet revolution” in China. Not to mention that government officials are reluctant to meet him. “Even if it is a friend in the field of environmental research, we all feel that we are going to pollute them,” said Lu Silu.

For some kind of competitive awareness, local NGOs will not welcome him to welcome him.

Since the international NGO organizations are still in a “defective” position, Greenpeace (China) must cooperate with institutions with legal identities to start from a specific project and gradually grow and survive.

Lu Siyi still remembers that in the three-year plan he thought deeply in that year, he wrote: “I think that China’s environmental problems will only worsen as the economy develops. The government will pay more and more attention to this issue and the NGO’s survival. Space will also grow bigger and bigger. As for Greenpeace, how can we develop our living space without impetuous?

The investigation of illegal GM rice is the first and most complicated project Greenpeace (China) does.

In 2005, when it first publicized the survey results, many NGOs did not understand why they were doing this project.

Lu Siwei's consideration is: There are multiple reasons for choosing it. First, it concerns the food, and it has to attract the attention of the government. Second, it is not sensitive. In 2001, the issue of genetically modified foods had already been discussed in the international community. Third, we can infiltrate us by making this project a success. The style of doing things, but also to provide the media with a full and complete material, so that reporters write a powerful content, get the media's trust.

In a piece of material he later forwarded, we saw that in early 2005 -

In a small restaurant in Hubei, an industry person introduced by a friend brought in a lot of new seeds. An insect-resistant rice marketing campaign from Songzi County caught our attention.

At that time, several phone calls were made by the investigators before they reached the mobile phone number of a local agricultural station. After some bargaining, the other party told investigators the number on the phone and let him secretly joint at Songzi Bus Station.

When they met, it was a shrewd middle-aged man sitting in the car. The goods were under the seat. He opened the two bags to allow the investigators to inspect the goods. The inside of each small bag was not marked with the word insect-resistant rice.

Our people said that such things could not be reimbursed when they were taken back. The other party stated on the invoice that due to national legal issues, it cannot be stated on the packaging that it is insect-resistant rice.

In order to ensure the accuracy of the investigation, relevant evidence such as audio recordings, video recordings, texts, pictures, etc. must be fully preserved. Every time our investigation requires two people to travel together. The evidence obtained does not dare to be placed around. Invoices, seeds, collected samples, to express back to Beijing. Voice data is also collated into text as soon as possible and sent to a safe place the first time. Because we must be prepared to deal with any eventuality.

The 25 samples sent to Germany for genetic testing for the first time were mostly sampled by investigators in two large grain and oil wholesale markets in Wuhan.

That time, the survey report became a hot spot for domestic and foreign media for a time. “We have pointed out through investigation that at present, China's GM rice varieties involve a number of foreign patents. Once China passes the commercial approval of genetically modified rice, it will open up for foreign biological companies. At the gate, they can control China's staple foods through the collection of patent fees and other measures, threatening China's food security."

Serological Pipette

Disposable serological pipettes with polyester fiber plugs are ideal for tissue culture applications. Crisp, black, highly legible permanent graduations prevent ambiguity and guarantee precise reading and accurate dispensing within ± 2%. Reverse graduations show volume removed or remaining on all pipettes larger than 1mL. Generous negative graduations provide additional pipetting volume. Yongyue's serological pipettes are made from transparent USP Class VI polystyrene sterilized by gamma irradiation. Each lot is free from pyrogens, DNases, and RNases.Yongyue's plastic serological pipettes are produced under the strictest protocols and offer the highest degree of accuracy.
The pipettes are supplied with an aerosol barrier plug that prevents both liquid and aerosols from contaminating the pipettors.
The serological pipettes are produced from crystal clear polystyrene (PS) and are color coded for easy volume identification. Available in 1mL, 2mL, 5mL, 10mL, 25mL and 50mL sizes.
In addition each Pipette now features:
Crisp and bold easy-to-read graduation marks
Reverse graduations on all volumes
Negative graduations on all volumes
1, 2 and 5mL pipettes feature one-piece construction

10, 25 and 50mL pipettes feature three-piece construction
