Another important observation is the high incidence of nighttime diarrhea in nursery pigs. This condition typically occurs during the early stages of life and is often linked to overfeeding of soybean meal. Cold weather can exacerbate the situation, as it weakens the piglets' digestive systems, leading to severe cases of diarrhea. Fortunately, this issue does not significantly impact their overall growth, but it remains a major concern for farmers due to its frequency and associated costs.
