The proper installation of a screw conveyor is critical for its long-term performance. Before starting the installation process, several key factors must be considered to ensure smooth operation. First and foremost, the foundation for the screw conveyor should be completed at least three weeks ahead of time. This ensures the structure is sturdy enough to support the conveyor without any risk of settling or shifting over time. Additionally, the foundation must provide adequate stability during operation.
Before installation, thoroughly clean the screw conveyor to remove any dust or debris accumulated during transit or storage. Ensure the flanges of the connecting sections are flat and well-aligned, with an allowable misalignment of no more than 2mm at the inner surface. Use an asbestos gasket between flanges to accommodate any dimensional discrepancies in the casing or screw body.
The gap between the outer diameter of the screw conveyor and the casing must adhere to specific guidelines. For instance, the minimum clearance should be at least half of the nominal gap value, but larger gaps can be accommodated based on user specifications. Intermediate bearings should be securely mounted onto the lifting lugs of the casing and adjusted to ensure alignment with the adjacent screw section. After installation, verify that the spiral body's axis maintains proper coaxiality, which should align with industry standards.
Ensure the main drive shaft of the conveyor and the motor shaft maintain precise alignment as per GB1184-80 regulations. Once all components are assembled within the casing, tighten all anchor bolts securely. Double-check that all couplings are fastened appropriately and that the inlet and outlet flanges are aligned parallel to the conveyor’s central axis. There should be no gaps between connected flanges.
After completing the installation, inspect the oil levels in all reservoirs. If insufficient, top up as necessary. Conduct a no-load test initially, followed by a continuous load test lasting no longer than four hours. During these tests, monitor the system for any anomalies such as loose parts, overheating bearings, oil leaks, unusual noises from the gearbox, or excessive power consumption. For optimal performance, the no-load power draw should not exceed 30% of the rated capacity.
If any issues arise during testing, halt operations immediately and address them promptly. Proper alignment and secure mounting are essential for long-term reliability. For conveyors longer than 8 meters, stricter coaxiality tolerances apply, increasing incrementally with length. By adhering to these steps, you can ensure your screw conveyor operates efficiently and safely.
