Progress of Lithium Ion Capacitor Negative Pre-intercalation Lithium Technology

A few days ago, the team of Ma Yanwei from the Superconductivity and Energy New Materials Research Department of the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences made progress in lithium ion capacitor negative electrode pre-intercalation lithium technology. Related research results were published in the materials journal Energy Storage Materials and applied for a national invention patent.

Lithium ion capacitor is a new energy storage device between super capacitor and lithium ion battery. It has the advantages of high energy density, high power density, fast charge and discharge, long cycle life and good safety performance. Electric vehicles, new energy power generation, aerospace and defense military have broad application prospects.

Lithium pre-intercalation is one of the key technologies for the preparation of high-performance lithium-ion capacitors. The research innovatively proposed Li3N with high specific capacity as a pre-lithium intercalator for lithium ion capacitors. For the first time, a dry process was used to prepare a composite positive electrode of activated carbon and Li3N, and a soft carbon material was used as a negative electrode. Li3N is completely decomposed into Li + and N2 after the first week of charging. Li + enters the negative electrode to complete the pre-intercalation of lithium. N2 is eliminated through the secondary sealing process, and no non-electrochemically active substances remain. The energy density based on the electrode material reached 74.7Wh / kg, the power density reached 12.9kW / kg, and the capacity retention rate was 91% after 10,000 cycles. The method has simple operation process and high efficiency, and is easy to realize large-scale preparation of lithium ion capacitors.

In recent years, the research team has carried out a lot of research work in large-scale preparation and application demonstration of lithium-ion capacitors, and has achieved a series of research results. At the "2019 Supercapacitor Industry Annual Meeting" held in November, its research results "China's independent research and development of all-carbon lithium ion supercapacitors to achieve the demonstration operation of loading" were selected by the China Supercapacitor Industry Alliance as "2019 China Supercapacitor Industry One of the top ten events. Teflon is Polytetrafluoroetylene, referred to as Teflon, PTFE, F4, etc.It is also known as Teflon, Teflon, Teflon, Teflon and so on because of its pronunciation.Polytetrafluoroethylene (ptfe) is a kind of plastic, which is used to manufacture heaters. It has been successfully used in chemical equipment heating. It has the characteristics of multi-layer and three-dimensional heating.

The working pressure, working temperature, heat transfer coefficient and installation method of the Teflon Heater vary greatly according to different types, different shell materials and different thermal media. The chemical properties of teflon are very stable and the corrosion resistance is especially good. The surface of the teflon tube is smooth and moderately flexible, so it is not easy to scale due to the slight vibration when using it.The teflon heater is small in size and compact in structure. The heat transfer area per unit volume of the equipment is more than 4 times of that of the shell heater.Flexible teflon tubes work safely under shock and vibration of fluids, and the tubes can be made into special shapes as needed.Teflon has low thermal conductivity, poor mechanical properties than metal, and is not resistant to high temperature. The use of small diameter, thin wall, although the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of compensation, but can only be used in the case of low pressure and low temperature. The production of teflon steam heater and teflon hot water heater has become more and more mature, and widely used in chemical industry, medicine, pickling and other corrosive industries.
