The average import price was US$149.2 per cubic meter, up 16.4%. In February, the port imported 294,000 cubic meters of logs, and its import volume increased by 2.5% year-on-year. It was the first year since February of last year, with an import value of 44.009 million US dollars, an increase of 19.2% year-on-year, the largest increase in a year.

According to relevant sources, starting from January 1 this year, Russia has delayed the implementation of the original timber export tariff policy, which was originally planned to increase to 80%, and will continue at 25%, which is a “pain killer” for log imports at Suifenhe Port. Due to the low base last year and the fact that this year's economic situation is better than last year, the import of logs from the Suifenhe Port has seen a short-term recovery.

Analysts said that in the long run, there will be recovery growth in log imports and it is hard to be optimistic. First of all, the current global resource-based commodity prices have risen sharply. Wood flooring and furniture industries have been in a downturn. It is difficult to digest large quantities of imported timber in the short term.
