China International Hardware Exhibition expands domestic demand

Since its founding in 2001, China International Hardware Show (CIHS) has gone through 10 years. In ten years, China International Hardware Exhibition has become the second largest hardware exhibition in the world. During this decade, what kind of development history has China International Hardware Exhibition experienced? What direction will it develop in the future? Recently, the author interviewed the deputy director of China International Hardware Exhibition Office and Mr. Li Xuelu, chairman of Beijing Shi Rui Exhibition Co., Ltd., with these questions.

The author (hereinafter referred to as the pen): We all know that this year is the 10th anniversary of the founding of China International Hardware Exhibition. Can you tell us how the China International Hardware Fair was founded and developed?

Li Xuelu (hereinafter referred to as Li): China International Hardware Exhibition was founded in 2001. Although the effect of the first exhibition was not ideal, it took the first step of "from nothing" after all. Entrepreneurial friends know that the first step is the most difficult step.

Later, in the first five years from 2001 to 2005, China International Hardware Exhibition seized the golden growth period of Chinese hardware products exports, vigorously developed the international market, laid the foundation for internationalization, and became the export of Chinese hardware products. One of the main channels. Since 2006, Cologne Germany has participated in the hosting of the exhibition, which has further strengthened the international positioning of China International Hardware Exhibition.

From the beginning of 2006, the organizers and contractors of the exhibition have sensitively captured the possible changes in the international and domestic hardware markets, and began to emphasize the strategic positioning of the “balanced development” of the international and domestic markets, and invested a lot of resources and manpower for this purpose. Develop the domestic market. The capacity of the international market is not unlimited, and the high growth of exports cannot be sustained. At the same time, the domestic demand market has faced several major opportunities of “industrial restructuring”, “urbanization” and “consumption upgrades” and will continue to maintain rapid growth in the next 20 years. The so-called "no international market is not strong, there is no domestic market instability." We also learned that many exhibitors who previously only exported started to create domestic brands and establish domestic channels, which coincides with our strategy. Therefore, we will always adhere to the "two-leg walk" position in this international and domestic market.

Pen: Well, after such a development process, China International Hardware Show has now become the world's second largest hardware exhibition, can you tell us about the basic situation of the hardware exhibition this year?

Li: This year's China International Hardware Show was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from September 28 to 30. The exhibition area is 110,000 square meters, with 5,500 booths and more than 2,300 exhibitors. 208 overseas exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, including Germany, the United States, Britain, India, Spain, Italy, Australia, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The leading international brands exhibited include Kunst in Germany, Brebena and TUV Nande, Tecfi in Italy, Fungtrade in the Netherlands, Xiri in Taiwan, and Han Ying in Hong Kong, and Yingke in Hong Kong. The overseas pavilions include the German delegation and Taiwanese hand tool industry. Group of Trade Associations, Taipei City Import and Export Commerce Association, Taichung City Import and Export Commerce Association Group.

Domestic famous hardware companies including Great Wall Seiko, Hangzhou Superstar, Ningbo Landa, Jiangsu Hongbao, Sun Grinding Wheel, Shanghai Jieke, Zhuhai Elephant, Zhejiang Huafeng, Zhejiang Rongcheng, Shanghai Jiyou and Yantai Third Ring will participate in the exhibition. China's hardware industry bases, such as Hebei Anping, Huanghua, Zhejiang Jinhua, Wenzhou, Pujiang, Haiyan, Guangdong Shunde, Zhongshan Siu Lam will also participate in the exhibition.

The number of professional visitors is expected to exceed 45,000. Among them, nearly 5,000 overseas visitors will come from 84 countries and regions. Multinational retailers including Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Home Depot, Kingfisher Group, LGSourcing, Leroy Merlin, Saint-Gobain, Metro, etc. will be in attendance. purchase.

This year, we also planned to prepare two special exhibitions of the 2010 China International Locks and Security Products Exhibition and the 2010 China International Construction Hardware Show, which were held in the same period with China International Hardware Exhibition. The establishment of independent exhibitions for professional categories is an important step and symbol for the professional development of the exhibition, and it is also a common practice for large-scale exhibitions at home and abroad. After the launch of the two special exhibitions, they received active support from manufacturers and distributors in the construction hardware and locks industry. This year, the total number of booths exceeded 850, and nearly 500 exhibiting companies participated in the exhibition. The domestic manufacturing and technology-leading industrial bases will also participate in the exhibition. During the exhibition, trade and marketing industry activities such as "Fasteners International Sourcing Fair" will also be organized.

Pen: We understand that China International Hardware Exhibition is currently holding promotion conferences and press conferences across the country. It can be seen that the organizers of the exhibition organizers and promoters are all making great efforts. Can you tell us about this situation?

Li: In the five years since 2006, our organizer has already held a domestic buyers promotion meeting in more than two thirds of the provinces. This year, the China International Hardware Fair's promotion was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi, Linyi, Shandong, Hefei, Anhui, Nanchang, Jiangxi, Kunming, Kunming, Chongqing and Shanghai. At the same time, we have made unremitting efforts to invite and organize domestic buyers through call centers, network promotion, professional exhibitions and postal invitations, and we have also achieved remarkable results. In 2009, the number of domestic buyers increased by 22.1% from 2008, and it is expected that 2010 will also increase by 20% from 2009. In addition, at the exhibition site service, many new initiatives were also implemented this year, including the establishment of a “400 free customer service system” and professional call services, the setting up of an “electronic navigation” information system, SRT self-service landing registration terminals, and “PDA information collection. System" etc. At the same time, we also organized "China's hardware new product display and release" and other activities to further enrich the content of the exhibition.

Pen: As far as I know, in the past, hardware companies called China International Hardware Exhibition “Shanghai Cologne Exhibition” or “Small Cologne Exhibition” and insisted that it was a purely foreign trade exhibition. Looking at it now, is this a misunderstanding?

Li: This is indeed a misunderstanding. The full name of our exhibition is China International Hardware Show, whose abbreviation is CIHS. It is jointly sponsored by China National Hardware Association, Cologne International Exhibition Co., Ltd., National Federation of Industry and Commerce Hardware and Electrical Commerce, and China Light Industry Industry Sub-Council. Since 2006, we have always adhered to the market positioning of “walking on two legs” in foreign trade and domestic demand, and in recent years we have continued to increase the development of the domestic demand market, including the organization of professional purchasers mentioned above. In the process, more and more exhibitors have joined the international market and the domestic market. Of course, according to the survey of domestic buyers, as of 2009, some exhibitors still only prepared information and reception personnel for overseas customers, and they also ignored and disrespected domestic buyers. Domestic buyers also expressed dissatisfaction. To this end, we have two suggestions and hopes for exhibitors:

First of all, “all visitors are customers”. Exhibitors are required to pay the same attention and same respect to every guest, whether he is an overseas buyer or a domestic buyer.

Secondly, two sets of product information, company introduction and quotation systems in Chinese and English are prepared, and two reception staff for export and domestic sales are provided to prevent each guest from being neglected. If you do not have the conditions within a short time, you must explain to the guests and exchange business cards for future contact.

The goal of China International Hardware Exhibition is to balance the development of the international and domestic markets so that the exhibitors can get the maximum benefit from the highest efficiency. We hope to gain the consensus and support of the exhibitors and provide possible cooperation.

Pen: Finally, can we analyze the future development direction of China International Hardware Show?

Li: The long-term goal of China International Hardware Exhibition is to achieve a world-class exhibition. Not only is the scale the largest in the industry, but it is also a long and arduous task to achieve world-class quality in terms of exhibits, technical content, brand representation, exhibitor quality, and exhibition organization level. One of the hallmarks of reaching the top international exhibitions is that the exchange of information and technology in the exhibition is more important than its trade function, “listing and knowing what is happening in the world”, allowing visitors to understand the technological trends of the hardware industry at the China International Hardware Show. And the international and domestic market trends, perceptions of corporate prosperity and brand changes. Therefore, we hope that our exhibitors will not only be limited to display products, but also pay more attention to the display and dissemination of brand, technical information, and corporate management and marketing concepts, so as to give buyers confidence. Exhibitors can use the platform of China International Hardware Exhibition to organize various conferences, dealer conferences, special forums, and on-site exchange activities. The host and contractor will provide full support.
